The Maine Sportsman Grand Slam Patch Club Application:
How to Prove the Harvest of a Turkey without Registration
A hunter qualifies for a Maine game-hunting “Grand Slam” when the hunter harvests a moose, deer, bear and turkey in the same calendar year. But since the State of Maine is not requiring registration of turkeys for the fall, 2021 season, in lieu of the “tag number” requested on the application, how does the hunter prove that he or she has taken a fall turkey, as part of the Grand Slam patch application process?
Here are the acceptable options:
1) Going to a tagging station and obtaining a form listing the shooter’s name, the date and the firearm, signed by an attendant;
2) Having a witness prepare a short note attesting to the kill (the form must include the witness’s name and phone number); or
3) Providing a photo of the hunter with the bird.
We hope these options prove helpful. Need a Grand Slam Patch Club application? Click here to download one. Good luck, hunters!
